Attending a sound bath is a wonderful and effortless way to put yourself into a deeply meditative state. This state brings clarity and awareness to our minds and hearts...Elevating our sense of consciousness and Self connection...Which has the potential to positively transform our lives!
Read more here: www.weebly.com/editor/main.php#/ As a yin yoga teacher since 2013 these are a few things I wish everyone knew about it 😁 1. Yin isn’t about getting to the deepest stretch possible. It’s about going slow enough to really feel what’s happening in your body and stopping where you feel about a 6/10 sensation. Staying tuned in to your body so you know exactly when your tissues invite you to take it a little deeper. 2. The props actually assist you in relaxing into the shape, they allow your muscles to relax more which ultimately allows the practice to be about the connective tissues. 3. Yin yoga is an intentional, specific practice/style of yoga asana. Each shape has a target area that is accessed safely and mindfully. Although the poses are the same as in your other yoga classes-the intention is different. 4. In yin yoga the shapes are held passively for several minutes at a time with your muscles as relaxed as possible. This is how the fascia, tendons, ligaments, joints and bones are nourished. If we exert lots of effort or are moving around a lot the muscles take up the stress and then it becomes a deep stretching session. Not yin. 5. Us teachers want you to practice in such a way that works for YOUR body. We all vary anatomically -the shapes of our bones, the variations in our body types, past or current injuries all play a part in how your body looks in a pose. I’m always happy to answer questions-so feel free to ask!! Happy yinning everyone! I am so excited about this new year and all the yoga I am bringing to my community! I am so happy I am now using the Tapestry studio in Viroqua for 2 of my classes and other special events. It is a beautiful studio and has such a good vibe. I will miss the LaFarge Wednesday P.M. class-but hope that those folks may consider coming into Viroqua that night :) Another change is that my Gays Mills class moved to the old community building on Main St.-although the new community building had a great view, I think this new space will be better for us. It has nice wood floors and is a smaller space I can keep cozier temperature wise.
I look forward to the training I'm about to take next weekend-it's a surprise...so I will tell you about it next month! I continue to work privately with people and to teach at Organic Valley and with the students at Youth Initiative high school. Lauren Hunt and I will continue our 4th Friday Kirtan gathering-hope to see you there sometime! A month ago I started teaching yin yoga for the first time. It has been an amazing experience. I am so blessed to have been guided to this practice, to have an amazing teacher and to now share it with my community. Yin yoga is a practice that brings you to deep connection with your body and with your mind. It actually teaches us to slow down and feel.
I just completed my A & P online course! I really, really enjoyed doing this. It wasn't quite what i expected, but it was awesome. I learned about all the systems in the body: Introduction to the Living Processes, The human cell(oh and WOW) this lesson blew me away! I KNEW we were made of miracle, but now I really know! Understanding Heredity, The Nervous system, The Skeletal system, The Muscular system, The Respiratory system, The Circulatory system(I think this was my 2nd favorite chapter), The Lymphatic system,The Integumentary and the Urinary systems, The Digestive system, and The Endocrine and Reproductive systems.
I feel ready and am looking forward to A&PII!!!! Oh, annnnd i also scored 100% on the final!!!! fun! :-) If any of you reading this may be interested in this life long learning course, here is the link to their website! http://www.ed2go.com/westerntc/online_course/hap/detail/Human_Anatomy_and_Physiology.html?Course=hap&CourseTitle=Human_Anatomy_and_Physiology I am LOVING my A&P class! I am learning so much, it is mind boggling and amazing. Our human bodies are truly a miracle-that is what I have learned the most, in great detail-ya, i knew before, but having every system of the body revealed and explained how it works is just...wow...
Sometimes I def feel overwhelmed by all the material, like I would need to take this course like 5 more times in order to get it all! I have been doing good on my quizzes and assignments and I am eager for the next lessons-so I think that is a good sign for the final in mid April!!! I'm off to learn about the circulatory system ;) I signed up for an anatomy and physiology course through Western Technical college this week!!! I am super duper excited because I have been geeking out on anatomy for quite some time now! I am so psyched to have a constructive way to learn and study the body and in turn be able to understand my own(and students) body at a deeper level. I know that it is going to add so much to my teaching. Not to mention the great exercise for my brain :)))
I am super excited about the new class I am offering! First off-It is a candlelight yoga class! And second, it is all about slowing down enough to really (((feel))) your body, to fOcUS on your breathing:::to absolutely check-in with your being. What DO you feel?!?! Where is your edge-can you honor and love it fully?! Teaching yourself to come BACK to the breath---to experience any emotions that come up and simply let them wash over you....This practice is based on the principles of Yin yoga, when we go deeper-hold poses longer, where we go to the connective tissues(namely the sheath of fascia that covers our body) affecting our bodies at an even MORE cellular level! But thats not all friends!>>> we will do some basic breathing techniques, some meditation, some chanting and ALOT of feeling good! I promise: you will feel different after this experience <3 Yoga really is being able to flow, keep centered and breathe At any moment,in any situation. So today,I show up for my weekly class. I arrive to a screw gun, 3 guys, another lady working, room in total dis-array. The nice lady says-oh, sorry, I'm supposed to tell you this was the only time they had to do this building project...I say, no prob, not ideal, but all is well... So I sit and wait for my students. I do warm ups while listening to the lovely hum of the drill. Now it's 5 after-no one has shown up...I stretch deeper while sitting here in the chair. Then it clicks::: this IS WHAT YOGA IS ALL ABOUT!!!! To breathe, be easy, roll with the punches, delve deeper into self-yet become infinite to expand and see things with more clarity. How do I ((FEEL)) IF I AM ANNOYED? HOW DO I ((FEEL)) IF I THINK THIS SITUATION IS HILARIOUS?!?!? It's about keeping your Center with ease with Grace without any anger. The clarity gained also helps you to ask questions, to hatch new ideas to be open to new inspiration. Doing your yoga practice encourages all these things. It's like cleaning the slate. |
